Onstar malfunctioning after install using Lan harness
Onstar malfunctioning after install using Lan harness
I cannot hear anything from my onstar system after installing a head unit. The light is on on the mirror and the fuse is fine. Did I miss something with this harness? All RCAs are connected and factory amp is powering sub and tweets.
Any thoughts?

What harness did you use
What head unit did you put in
Do your chimes still work, are they loud or quiet.
What do you mean the amp is powering sub and tweets, you mean its only powering the sub and the tweets, Whats powering the front door speakers?

The setup is as follows:
Innovatek GPS-722 HU
Pioneer 4 ch [powers doors and rears]
Factory tweets and subwoofer are still of the amp and controlled by HU
Clarion EQ [controls the 4ch]
Pioneer Center channel [off HU]
The turn signals are loud but the chimes are not and the onstar is barely audible. Like you can only hear it with the engine off and windows up.

This almost funny.
You don't really have a problem.
If you read the fine print, I'm taking it you used a Gmos Lan 04, it will tell you that the chimes, onstar, and your signals will play through the drivers side front speakers. I think the tun signals are a higher freq thats why there louder but since you bypased the amp, for the front speaker it no longer can play the chimes and onstar through it, all your getting is the tweeter because there on the same line.
2 things to do
1-Get a small speaker, mount it some where under your dash, on the drivers side, find the wires to the speaker either at the amp or at the interior side of the molex at the door, connect the speaker to the wires and your problem is fixed. The wire codes for the stereo are at the top of the section(Cobalt Audio Pinouts)
2- On the Lan unit itself there is a small dial and a set of jumpers, put a small star or flathead in the dial and turn it all the way clockwise, this is a volume setting for the chimes and onstar, the jumpers are volume for the turn signals, you'll have to check the owners manual for the settings on the jumpers cuz I can't remember them off the top of my head

Yes it would do it but I wouldn't recoment it.
You would have to run the left front line to the center and thus defeat the purpose of the center speaker. I don't think you can have the center line and the left front line running to the same speaker, I could be wrong though but it doesn't sound right, plus the chimes are LOUD when they come through the LAN...Really loud.
Loud enough that I rushed to amp up my front end after installing it.
Just get a cheap 2 or 3 " speaker and mount it facing down or away from you, trust me you'll be able to hear the onstar loud and clear
