Orion Hp series
Orion Hp series
Hey lads, just want to know what you think of the Orion HP10D4's? I know a guy willing to sell me 2 of em for 280$ flat....i must admit that is a good price and orion is pretty solid ive just never heard anything from there HP series...im going to run them with a JBL mono block if i pick up the subs...let me know
$241.07 This is for 2 10" after shipping. I can't tell you if they are good or not, but I think they are Orion's lower line sub just above thier CxxDx line subs. That is a good deal but unless it is from a shop that is giving you a warentee no reason not to get them cheaper.
Alright now i definietly have a choice to make, ive got 2 offers so far going on 2 different sets of subs....one offer is $280 for the oiron HP10D4's with 6month warranty and taxes and shipping included, the other offer is 325$ shipped for two MTX T5510-04's....1yr warranty...what do you guys think? i am going to run these with a JBL GTO301.1 mono...

The MTX T5510-04's on the other hand are single 4 ohm voice coils. This leaves you with the wiring options of 8 ohms or 2 ohms. In this case your amp can atleast be wired for 2 ohms. The JBL spec sheet says 294 watts RMS x 1 channel at 2 ohms, 14.4V supply. You probably will not be giving the amp 14.4V so you will actually have a good bit less than that coming from this amp. These subs want 300 wRMS each. This is atleast closer but still not a very good match.
You should start looking for some Kappa infinity perfects, Kenwood KFC-W3010, Kicker Comp 05C104, Pioneer TS-W251R...anything that takes around 150 wRMS per sub. Or look to upgrade to a bigger amp. I know JBL underrates but not that much, and the ratings on the spec sheet are for 14.4 V and you will probably be giving it 12.(2-8)V.
