Sony H/U Help

Ok i was given a sony headunit model # CDX-M650.... now before u go on with all the sony is crapp stuff remember it was given to me for free from my dad and it worked good when we took it out of his car....now to the problem. when i put in a cd it sounds like it is try to read it but after about 45 seconds it ejects it and says ERROR and nothing else. the cd works in all the other cars and is .wav format. i looked in the manual and it said to clean the cd but the cd was brand new....well i cleaned it anyway and it still doesnt work....any suggestion would be helpful

P.S. im thinking maybe the laser has dust on it since this thing was stored for about a year before installing it, but i have no way of cleaning the laser.

You can buy a lens cleaning kit for car stereos. Try that.
Other than that...
I've had electronics go bad on me after sitting around like that, including a $700 printer in my office storage. It's not that unusual.
