other GM stereos....

So I really wanted my cobalt stereo to be the XM ready, MP3 model, with an in dash changer. They do not offer a changer in the cobalt, of course. However, the Chevy Equinox does offer a 6 disc in dash cd/mp3/xm ready stereo. And it even matches the brushed aluminum appearance:

I bet you anything its the same exact size (and offered in the 2006 or 2007 cobalt).
I am kind of interested in grabbing one of those, since it fits and looks right, but I have no idea where I can find one without asking the dealer, who will gladly charge me too much. The Equinox is also brand new, and after scanning the web for a bit, I found nothing. I found next to nothing on OEM cobalt parts as well. www.gmpartsdirect.com has partsfrom recent vehicles if you know the part number, but their catalog ends at 2002.

Anyone know a good place to find GM part numbers for anything recent? Delco's site had ***** for 2005, assuming they are making them these days.

I got a Kenwood Sirius/MP3 playing head unit. The first thing I have to say about it is I miss the user friendliness of the GM stock units. My S10 came with a CD player/RDS unit. I miss the RDS for the FM and I miss the clock. In the Kenwood you have to hit a tiny button 4 times to get the clock up and another 2 to get the track back. I wish kenwood would have done away with the stupid/useless animation crap and put in a stupid clock so I could see the channel/track and the clock. Be careful when you buy a new head unit and make sure you test it out first and not just look at a list of features.

That said the sirius radio is pretty neat. I drive from Maryland to upstate New York and I go right through rural PA and there isn't a lot of radio that isn't country or christian. Satelite is a god send cause I can listen to the same show/station the whole way. Also they can swear so you get some of the better comedy shows/clips. It would be neat to listen to Stern when he comes over but alas I ordered my cobalt with the XM radio.
