what is it, what does it mean, how do i get it to work?

Its for xm radio. You choose your P-Type such as rock and when you hit the seek button it will only cycle through rock channels. Makes finding music of a certain type you like easy.

As mike pointed out P-type is PROGRAMMING type as in what kind of music a radio station plays, it allows to to only search through stations of the genre you like, talk, rock, classical, pop, jazz, traffic, etc....it is actually a function of both the S-band(XM) and standard FM radio, it only functions on FM stations that provide RDS data, on these stations youll notice the song name, artist and radio station tag line come up even though its FM.

Hey neato dident know it works with FM. To bad there are only 5 stations in my area that use rds lol. Good info none the less!

Move to Detroit almost all of the local stations here have the RDS, guess it's because it's an offshoot of the digital FM (I forgot the actual name of it) they've been working on in Canada

ahh, i dont have xm, but ill check it out with FM, itll help out on long trips
