PAC SWI-JACK Help Please

I bought the pac swi jack and it said it was easy. Took me forever to find the keys to remove the HU and than I didnt know what to do. Do you cut the wires that go directly into the HU? Or are there a seperate set of wires that got stuffed away? A major question I have is, can you use the steering controls and have an iPod? The iPod uses the "headphone" jack and usb for some reason. This is a 06 cobalt to Kenwood KDC-792. Thanks a lot.

kenwoods dont utilize the jack but the wire. it connects to the blue orange or blue yellow wire that's labeled something like sys control

i soldered the wire it was asking for (green white if i remember correctly) because the swi interfactes go by resistance and every lil bit helps. You also have to connect a wire to acc for some odd reason but just do it

You tap the blue wire, no need to cut it and jump the other wire to a power source, typically switched power so the steering wheel controls (read the notes for the install directions).

When I did my Kenwood, the SWI-Jack didn't send any output from via the Kenwood wire. It was the newest revision, so if you're having that problem, I was advised by tech support to cut the mini jack connector, tape off the kenwood wire and tape the red wire from inside the mini jack connector to the remote jack of the head unit.

I know about the blue/yellow wire. I just simply cut off the female connection and connect to two wires. What did you guys ground to? Where does the red wire go? Do I need to cut any wires from the wiring harness? How do you use the resinators? Thanks for the help. Sorry so many questions.

I cut the wire on the SWI-JACK.

What revision is your SWI-JACK? It should say so on the box.

thats the way to go. just read the instructions. you only need to mess with 3 wires. the blue yellow which it sounds liek is done, the single wire going out of the jack to tap one of the harness wires and you need to jump one of the harness wires to acc. no resistors needed. but you should read the instructions just in case something changed like tuanies was saying

How do you tap a wire and jump a wire? Man I feel dumb. It kept saying how easy it was but I cant do it lol. Shops want like $50 install.

that actually sounds reasonable. i hate installing them personally. but taping a wire is the process of adding an electrical connection between 2 wires. technically this is needed for both wires i just worded it differently The wire your using to go from the swi-jack to the wire in the harness should be soldered. the wire from the harness to acc doesnt really matter as much. I just used a t-tap on that wire
