Ugh... Kenwood is nice for usability, and look decent, but uhhh, if you want a deck for good quality AUDIO (show and/or audiophile) may I suggest something different?

Either Alpine or Eclipse mid-higher end HU's are MUCH MUCH better than Kenwood

an indash is always going to have lower quality audio over a good quality regular deck. company doesn't matter.

Most of the time this is true, however most of the Eclispe in dash units come with triple 5 volt pre outs, when you compare it to the 8 volts that the non video ones have it kinda looses its value. This is what kept me from going video for so long, until I saw my JVC with 3x 5volt pre-outs, compared to the single din JVC I was running with 4 volt preouts it was an upgrade. I had to sacrifice the Navagation to get the higher output, but most indash systems I have seen have only had 2 volt preouts and most don't even have 3, just 1 or 2 preouts.
I believe that Kenwood had 3x5 volt preouts on it but it depends on what freq. they took the readings at.
Emp- Aren't you running an oldschool Fosgate deck?
Might be a downgrade from what you have, You know what they say "If it aint broke, don't fix it" I'd stick with yours, but thats just my opinion, take it for what its worth.
BTW- I paid $465.00 from Ebay for mine and saw it at a local shop selling for $999.00 its a JVC KW AVX 800

One of the new Kenwood's also has 5-volt pre-outs and sounds very good. I don't remember the model but I believe it was an excelon piece.

I hear that, mine has the USB input on it, and let me tell ya, I have no need for CD's anymore. The sound quality that comes from the USB is way better.
Looks like your in quite a pickle

you didnt get what i was saying. If you have an in dash from the big 3 (pioneer alpine eclipse) you can get a sq deck from said company and it will sound better and be cheaper. Just because an in dash is more expensive doesn't mean it includes alot of the SQ aspects of a deck. Think of cd players getting higher quality with price. So the pioneer 3000ib is going to sound better then the pioneer 2000mp and the premier 300ib is going to sound better then both of those. but the pioneer 4000dvd isnt going to sound better then the 800prs even thou its more expensive. The top of the line sq deck is going to sound the best over anything. The top of the line in dash is going to sound better then most of the low end but half of the good decks will sound better then it.
