Headunit & Speakers
Headunit & Speakers
I'm getting new speakers & a headunit for my car (06 LS, eh), basically because I want an ipod output and I think I'm about blow one of my speakers =/
I read or heard something that some people lose connection to their Driver Information when they hook up a headunit. True or False?
Also, what are the basic information I need about getting new speakers. I have friends who are going to help me pick speakers out, but I just want to know the basic information that I should know about my car, incase they need it I guess.
Any recommendations? I don't want cheap speakers at all, but nor do I want to spend more than $200ish on them either.

My advice...goto the store find out what you want. Write down the Model # and Brand...Search ebay, check seller feedback making sure they have done business on ebay and have 93%+ positive feedback. Buy it on ebay!
Yea thats exactly what my friend told me to do. He said you can buy new, but might as well give ebay a look.
When speakers are new, whats an average total price for speakers? Just to have an idea.
I'm not up for getting ripped off =]

Is that refering to a headunit being installed in an 05-06, or the actual 07+ radio being installed into an 05-06 cobalt?

14.) I have an 05-06 cobalt and i want the aux in like the newere 07+ radios. Can I just swap one of those head units in my car?
Quick answer is no... yes its been done by one person (SilverSS/SC) but in the end some of the functions were lost and most of the buttons were backwards. He knew someone that worked at gm and had extensive knowledge of the tech 2 software... even then it took quite a while and barely worked. heres the thread about swap
