Compustar Ques. NEED HELP
I have had a Compustar Pro p2w900fmr installed.
The alarm works fine but the remote start does not
The problem is it wont go into reservation mode, its having a problem getting past the RAP
Something is telling the module that the car is still running so it wont go into reservation mode thuis it wont let me remote start it
Anyone know how to fix this
Please

THe installer (same guys who did my stereo) compared working on it to fighting a woman. "It hits below the belt and you have no choice but to stand there and take it"
It shows up as error code 1 on the remote and even the guys at compustar are scratching there heads
Its a great alarm system though and it has tons of option.
I'm wondering if that damn GMOS LAN 04 has anything to do with it, its the RAP that causing the problem. The alarm thinks the car is still running or something like that.
Does anyone or better yet has anyone installed a compustar remote start on a cobalt?

Take out the GMOS Lan 04, buy a cheap harness, and wire up your stereo so it turns off without RAP. That would be my first step. I even heard the stock RAP messes with remote starts. Also, did you get a security bypass? (PassKey III IIRC)
ok you need to put it into valet by turing the key on and off 5 times then try and start the car ....it wont start yet, now turn the ignition on and off 5 more time ( while staying in the car with the door closed ) now start the engine take your foot off the brake and put the ebrake down u should hear a click ....now wait 10 sec and pull the ebrake back up and u should hear the click again now take the key out of the ingnition and get out the car ...that should be it if that doesnt work the guy who installed it didnt do the rap right.
on my manual car i put a automatic transmission car starter in screw that reservation mode

^^
We tried that plus he had the box that hooks up to the alarm to program it, much easier that turning the ignition.
I think I'm going to rip that GMOS LAN 04 out and put in the one that does not retain the RAP.
You say you put an auto transmission starter in on your manual car?
Does it work, what if any are the side effects, things I shoould be aware of?
And yes there is a security bypass for the pass key, the alarm works fine its just when I try to remote start it it give me an ERROR Code 1 on the remote,

If all you need is the RAP feature 'shutdown', the installer needs to pulse any doorpin wire (negative trigger) to trick the vehicle into thinking the door opens then closes to shut down the RAP.
If it is something else you are talking about, which I loosely suspect, greater detail is needed about why the RS/alarm system needs to see anything related to the RAp system for RS purposes.
Actually cobalts are about as easy as they come.
Everything is at the BCM pretty much

It shuts down the RAP.
When I put my foot on the brake then pull up the ebrake, then release the foot brake, I can turn off the car (it still stays running) get out close the door, then the car shuts down, the doors lock, the radio shuts off, the alarm chirps and even the horn honks for the stock system. The remote does this little song and dance and the symbol comes up stating that the remote start function is enabled and ready to go (the little key shows up on the remote) but when I press the button to remote start it, the remote flashes and says "Error code 1" which I believe, he said ment that the car module thinks that the car is still running, thus the anti-grind feature wont let it start, we tried two different remote start module's but no luck. We bypassed the RS serial port and hard wired it right in cuz Compustar say it sometimes caused conflicts, he didn't have a whole new brain at the shop (most of the inventory is kept at a seperate warehouse) but thats the next step.
Now I'll be the first to admit, when it comes to alarms I'm way out of my league, so this is all pretty much greek to me but I remeber him saying something about the BCM pulsing and seeing the RAP even thought the RAP shuts down at the instant it pulses its still seeing it and thus not letting the star function kick in.
Does this make sense or no,?
That GMOS LAN has been a pain in my ass since the day it went in, if its the only thing keeping the RAP and this really is a RAP issue then deep sixing the damn this should solve the problem...or start a whole new list of problems.
I just remebered we never did try the 1 way remote that came with the system, could it be a remote issue? worth a shot anything is at this point

Well it works!
A huge thanks to Jeff and the rest of the crew at Sounds Good Auto, who put a ton of effort into fixing the problem (although they said the Cobalt was by far the most difficult car to work on) They spent a week on the phone with Compustar figuring out the problem.
In the end it was the tach that was giving it the problem, the Compustar module just didn't want to learn the Cobalts Tach, so he said he had to force it to learn it, if that means anything to anyone. In any case they came through and fixed it up real nice, I'm a happy camper.
Emp- You had said you wanted to put this same system in your car but the fact that it was a pain in the ass was holding you back, if you want the info from how they did mine (and this goes for anyone else who wants it as well) PM me and I'll give you there contact info so you can discuss it installer to installer, thats got to be better than me trying to relay info since I have come to accept the fact that alarms are waaay!! out of my league. Its an awsome little unit that I have only begun to play with

That's odd, I think Cobalts in are on the easier end of vehicles to work on. Obviously those guys never did remote starts on BMWs or Jags. That whole tach not learning sounds a little off, never heard it before. My tach learned just fine once I decided to not be lazy and switch it over from running off voltage sense.
