Remote Starter Question

I'm going to be buying a compustar remote starter. I cant decide on what model. the P2W9000FMR or the 2W900FMR.
heres the link to the website. http://compustar.com/ click products and the P2W9000FMR is under compustar pro and the 2W900FMR is under compustar. my friend also told me that i would need a bypass module...what is this for and where can i get it and which one do i need?

500-575 installed. Personally with a system that advanced id prefer it to be done by a professional and ive herd that alot of people wont touch security systems unless its bought from them (because sometimes parts are missing or what not)

You would need the bypass module to "fool" the car into thinking that there is a key in the ignition when the remote start is used. If you do not use this, the car will shut down and you will be making a visit to your dealership to have them get it going for you again.

That's a great alarm, just got it installed a few weeks ago in my 07 LS. Installer told me it was by far the worst vehicle to install an alarm in that he has ever done, a bunch of extra work that he normally doesn't do. I did my own system but I'd rather pay somebody to do the alarm!

The remote has great range (ugly as hell though, looks like a nose hair trimmer), and plenty of features for me. I like that when doing a remote start on a manual with a compustar you don't have to worry about starting in gear. You will really like this alarm, at least I have!

Yeah the range is great I haven't tested how far away I can get out in open, I think its supposed to be 3000 ft though. The biggest thing to me was having two way paging that would work while I was at work or at home. My house was never a question because of how close I park but I work at the mall so I was afraid that it wouldn't work because of how far away I would be and people told me that it wouldn't be as good as in the open air. I was really impressed at how far away my car can be and still have it work. If I show up at 5 on a Saturday and I have to park out in the boonies then it won't work once I make it in my store but otherwise, so far so good.

That seems like a good price for the install. You might want to think about getting the alarm and the install from the same place so they can take care of you in case anything ever goes wrong. If you buy something off of ebay, which I almost did, you have to send in the part that is faulty if anything ever goes wrong. If you buy from the store if there is ever a problem they will fix it for you right there. The shop I went to has a lifetime warranty on the compustar alarm and the install itself. Alarms have problems more frequently than, say car audio for instance so I decided against ordering online.

yeah they will install the whole thing but if you ever have a problem with the product itself you have to send it to whoever you bought it from for replacement or repair. To me it just wasn't worth the potential hassle to buy the alarm online and the install somewhere else. If there is a problem, which happens all the time with alarms, I'd rather go back to the store I bought it from and have a lifetime warranty on the product and the install. Just food for thought

For the remote starter bypass,i recommend this one:http://www.12voltshop.com/product.as...&parentcatid=0.I tried the other bypass kits where you have to tap into the pk3 wires in the ignition switch column and it was a pain in the ass.I had the bypass kit that i mentioned in the link laying around that i removed from a bmw that had a remote start, and it worked like a charm. Its a 2 wire hookup that should take no more than 5 minutes to install. You take the ring and install it around the ignition cylinder, and thats it.You just need a spare key to put inside the box.

yup thats my thoughts too... plus ive herd alot of places that wont touch an alarm unless its bought there (because of to many ebay kits that have missing parts or what not)
