Get a CAN interface module, not only is it much better, it makes installation a breeze. They interface directly with the computer and your alarm wires to it instead of going directly to the cars wires. Saves time, looks better, and is alot safer. idatalink is a good example of a CAN bus interface module.

As for the starter only working sometimes, I have no idea where the problem would be since I dont know how the installer installed it. The ignition in these cars is different then most, as the computer starts the car and not you when you turn the key. You will have to take it back to who ever installed it and ask them, most of us here cant help because there is so much that could be going wrong or setup wrong and we don't know the details of how it was installed.
Your not disabling the factory theft system. It still needs a signal from the alarm to activate it.You make it sound like if you take a screw driver and stick it in the ignition switch it will start. It wont.Sure, you have to put a spare key in it.If your worried about someone breaking in and using the spare key to steal the car,Break the head off and make it useless.Im not worried about someone stealing my car.If they want it,they will get it.Its not like there gonna watch you go to your car and see if you have a remote start, lol.I agree with you though on the idatalink. There def the best on the market.Whatever you do,stay away from dei bypasses, there garbage.

As for the car not starting,i dont know. All i know is that he fucked up somewhere.

Just put a spare key in it,and call it a day.Its a universal transponder bypass kit.
This is only half of the cobalt's security, it also uses passlock 2 in conjunction with the transponder key. You have to bypass both to make it work.

There good alarms.Alittle on the pricey side though, depending on which model and options you get.
