Pioneer or Clarion

Hey guys,

So I'm looking to put a new in-dash unit in my Cobalt SS/TC down the road, and I'm looking at two different units. They're very reasonable priced, and I'm only really interested in these, unless you guys have something that is within the same price range.

First up is the Pioneer AVH-P3100DVD which is the straight in-dash unit.

Can be seen here.. http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...id=EN#MoreInfo

The next one is the Clarion VZ409, which is the flip out screen.

Can be seen here... http://www.futureshop.ca/catalog/pro...0126459&catid=

They both seem to have a lot of the same features, its just a matter of what's better or what is your guys' opinions of each one.

I also do realize, i'll need to buy a double/single DIN dash kit, as well as the GM OS LAN 4? I think it is to retain On-Star, and the PAC ...? To retain my steering wheel controls, but i will do that shopping on eBay since it's a lot cheaper then retail stores here in

Any information on both would be great! Thanks a lot guys.

Mike

If those are the two you've narrowed it down to, go with the Pioneer.

Better RCA out's, less parts to break, looks rather OEM, and an overall greater feature base.

personally i'd never buy one of those decks with a flip out.

yeah flip out only good if you have a single din car that you want a screen on... otherwise the double din set up cleans the console nicely... and like warren said, less parts to break... theres no screen going in and out of it every time you turn the car on.. lol

Does your stock head unit have the USB/iPod connection? If so, would you be willing to sell?

Oh and by the way, Pioneer all the way!

Nope sorry my head unit doesn't have the USB/iPod connection. Just the basic one.

Also, i found the AVH-P4100DVD too, the upgraded version of the 3100.. What would be the still the best? Only difference is it has a motorized face, as opposed to the 3100 that doesn't. I ruled the Clarion out, looking for the best Pioneer now.
