pioneer sound system
i recently bought a 2006 cobalt ss supercharged and i have a couple questions about the pioneer system..
first off, does anyone know the wattage output of the pioneer subwoofer? and also has anyone tried putting in another amp to power the subwoofer? i expected the sub to hit harder and i thought it just might not be getting enough power from the amp that the cobalt comes with.
any extra information involving your own enhancements to the sound system would also be appreciated.
thanks

Well i replaced my stock with a pioneer avic z1. I believe when you change out the stock one you always get a better hit. However, everything else is stock except for the headunit and with a few setting changes, the subwoofer sounds like a 15 inch....sounds good.

The whole system is 228 Watts. The amp runs more then just the sub, if you want a louder thump get a new ampand new sub. The factory Pioneer sub can't pound without popping, but it depends how loud do you want it?

if you have xm (and want to keep it) or onstar i wouldnt even try honestly but if you dont have either then its not bad
about the stock sub idea you can do alot of things to enhance the sound and pretty much anything you upgrade will help... and your best/loudest sound will come from doing them all
an aftermarket sub is usually more efficient so just changing that should get you more thump but very limited
an aftermarket amp will get you the power you need/want but since the stocker is realativly low powered you may blow it with too much power
an aftermarket hu will provide extra cleaner power to bump up the sound on the whole system and can offer better control of the sub to make it sound better.
