Plead for technical help trailer wiring issue
I am having some trouble getting the brake lights on my trailer to work and would any input from fellow members.
I have a 08 cobalt SS and the trailer lights are connected thru a plug and play "T-connector" from the two car taillights.
My problem is all the running, signal lights and the hazard lights worked; but when I apply the brakes, the tail running light turns off and no brake lights. The trailer uses a common bulb (2 filament), the way it should work is when I apply the brake the running should still be on and the brake part of the filament should be lit, just like the factory tail lights on our cars.
Thanks

Are there more than two wires that run the the brake lights? I know on the headlights that there are like 4 to the actual bulb and they are all for different functions. If you tapped into the limes in the trunk I'd pull the carpet out of the way and check the limes with a voltmeter assuming that there are if course more than two line. If worst comes to worst you can tap into the brake lights at the actual switch on the pedal but it's definitely slot easier to do from the trunk so you should check that first.
