Well, the driver's side seal is on order, but won't be in for a few days. Gotta go back for the fourth day next week. At least one side is done. However, the new seal has a different finish (I'll try to wipe it down) and they scratched up the inside of my door with the panel clip near the tweeter. I guess that's a small thing compared to the problem it went in for. I mean, I've put a couple scratches in the car myself, but it's always worse when someone else does it, ya know? And they didn't even bother to tell me about it.
Supercharged, let us know how those half-baffles work for you if you try them.

I have foam baffles that I cut apart for this exact issue. The top of them is intact to direct water away from the speakers but I cut the sides and bottom out. I didn't notice a difference in sound quality when I installed them.....

i live in southern california and have the water issue with my passenger door. after a hard (not often) rain, the speaker sounds distorted. i took it out and found water. will probably be upgrading soon, and i'm thinking about using some left over sound deadener to make a "SHELF" above the speaker so water goes around it and not on it. luckily, since im in so cal, it doesn't rain much
btw i have an 08 Sport with the upgraded Pioneer

one thing to think about is unless you go with the second skin SPL tiles or something with a crazy thick foil its not going to hold up. doing a piece of sheet metal with dampener applied might be a better route.
on the diyma forum someone did so and put a mini how to if you can find it

what???? i already have the inside part of the door, closet to the outside, skinned with sound deadener (not 2nd skin or Dynamat, something else cheaper and better).
i was thinking of makin a "U" shape with the deadener, sticky side down and to the sides, to make a shelf over the speaker

right thats what i was talking about BUT i thought you were going to do it with the foil down adhesive on top.... either way if you do it foil up foil down what i was worried about its going to pretty much be applied on the speaker unless the foil is thick enough to hold its own weight.

For those who have experience the door speaker problem. Has the water ruined anything else, like the wiring or connectors? Or is it a simple remove and replace with a new speaker. I have a 2011 Cobalt that both front speakers have quit working over the years. I haven't pulled it apart to assess the damage. I am hoping to buy two stock replacements and drop them in.

Old post but relevant.... after 10+ yrs my 6.5" door comps finally went. They were sounding like crap for a few months and worse when it rained. The amp (Audison LRx 5.1k) would also cut out when volume turned up a bit. So I took back to car audio shop (EHR in Hamilton) recently and the comps looked like this when removed. Woofers were seized and would not move on one, terminals fell apart, etc. Store ordered some baffle things. Will see how they work out. Got some MLK 165 (MLK1653) replacements for these destroyed HSK 165's.

Nope not yet. Should know this week if I get time to have it done. I think they said they were foam though. They also said sound would not be affected. Will see. I do know these MLK 165 mids sounds better than the HSK ones I had though. These are not the highest end 1650.3 ones, but still $$$. If I did get the 1650.3's though, I believe they had a hat/baffle to fit them.
For now, I have been taping up along the window/door. Not sure where the water is coming in.

Finally had the baffles put in. No pics though. Does not sound any diff to me, although only listened to a few songs. Hopefully it keeps water away.
However... when I left the basement garage at car audio shop, I christened the new ZZP resonator by scraping it pretty good at the entrance.

Actually they do sound crappy on certain songs. One song sounded like the mids were blown. However, it was an older classic rock song where the mids seemed to be doing most of the work, as the subs never really came on. I have a mix of old hip/hop (87-94), classic rock, etc. Will just have to live with it. As long as it keeps water away.
