it is possible if you have a shallow 10. i tried the swap and i didnt like the way it sounded so i built a 3/4 inch sealed box, sounded much cleaner

yea id say dont bother...you need a certain air space for each sub and once u upgrade to somthing nicer, that box just isn't going to cut it. its pretty cheap now to get just one 12 in. sub and a box with a small amp. possibly 500 with install altogether unless you know what you're doing with audio, in which you'd install it yourself.

i know somewhat about the wireing. there are DIYs on youtube. i am thinking about taking out the spare tire and doing a custom box there. then the amp on the back seat, or on the bottom of the rear deck.

should sound good as long as it's sealed tight.

do the amp on the rear seat... also if you do a wheel well box look into fiberglass and put a bit of money and time aside

your not going to want anything free air. you might be able to do infantate baffle but that rarely works with subs and power handling goes way down

for those wanting to know about replacing the factory sub in the pioneer box,I have changed my factory sub with an Alpine sub, shallow type, in the factory box, same type 2 ohm.It does in fact sound better but upgrading to an amp and sub in another box I'm sure would sound better. The Alpine sub that I put in does fit just that the pioneer grille will not work on the new sub and I added some extra padding around the bottom seat of the sub where it mounts to the box.The Alpine does sound much cleaner over the factory sub but for now it will do.For whomever is wishing to do the same,I have the Alpine sub model number if your interested, just let me know.

yea on the back of the seat it is easier to release heat off of it. why do you say fiberglass?

making a wood enclosure in there isn't going to be fun or easy especially if you need a bit of airspace (there's probably only 1 or so cubes of space down there... especially with the battery still in the stock location) it looks big but its really not

true, i am going to car stereo warehouse, its a place close to me, and they build custom boxes, i have been thinking about geting a shallow mount MTX, the new ones, or maybe one of the new memphis S class shallow mounts. i gotta get a 12. 10 in a seald box wont cut it for me. if i get a shallow mount i shold be good, and yea it looks big untill you measure it out.

EQ your input signal to tune out the droning bass frequencies and your sub will hit REALLY hard. I love how mine sounds, it sounds aftermarket and rattles my door skin

if your changing out the sub I suggest adding another Amp just for it. Made a big difference in my car.

shallow mount Rockford Fosgate P3 with 300 watts RMS.

i want to do a full system now, there is only so much you can get out of that factory box...
i went to a local shop. they are kinda expencive, but warrenty their work for the full time i have the car. i talked to the guy i have talked to and baught from before, got a few quotes with different subs and different amps. mainly going with JL, and one setup has an alpine amp. and they warrenty the subs and amps for a minimum of a year, or 2 years. he told me right then and there that i can go somewhere and get it for cheaper but they wont warrenty it at all. if i blow out a sub compleatly, i take it there, they put in a new one, FOR FREE.

these are the quotes...

1-
JL 12 inch w3
JL amp
ported box
labor
wire
=$716

or w/ JL w1
=$600

2-
2 JL 10inch w3
Alpine 1000 watt D class amp
ported box
labor
wire
=$1200

or w/ JL w1
=$820

SS SCHGD-
does it sound good? nice and deap, and does it hit hard?

I bought a 5 channel amp, and am running it off a RF 360.1 to get signal for the amp, But the easiest way would be to run a line out converter off the back speakers (or the stock sub wires) to the amp and run the speaker wire from the Amp into the Stock Box for the new sub.

I'm using a RF 360.1 for converting the stock stereo's output to RCAs for the Amp. It sounds much better then Stock, (and I thought the stock system was pretty good for stock) I am sure it will sound even better when I finally get a Good headunit in the car.

It is not 2000 watts RMS in to 2 12's (like my other car was) But I am very happy with it.
