anybody have any personal experience with this amp. Is it built well? Does it put out the power it says ( im guessing like 800 at 1 Ohms). Can the cobalt handle it without modding electrical system.

 

i dont know the amp ,but its gonna take 57 amps @ 14volts or 66amps at 12v to get 800watts . i think the cobalt has a 105amp alt , so you should be good.

 

dude honestly im running like 1400watts between my 2 amps and thats not including the rest of the stuff i have for my sound system. theres nothing to really govern a amps performance either. so they could say its 800w but it could really perform like its 600w. in my experience, profile, rockford fosgate,kicker, memphis, MTX, MobilSpec are some good amps and i think hifonics is another one.

 

well it says its 1200 rms @ 1 ohm but im guessing its more like 800. I heard somewhere about 100 watts for every 10 amps. i just want to know if the amp is any good though

 

i personaly wouldt get it. if its cheap chances are it performs cheap. depends what kinda subs you got to and what ohms they are as well. like if you have dual 4 ohm woofers i would go with something that peaks at 2 ohms.

 

well im going to get two 4 ohm dvc and wire them down to 1 ohm. i just need an amp that can put out 800 rms without going over 80 or 90 amps

 

you will get more power if you peak at 2 ohms

 

why would i get more power at 2 ohms!?! If you can explain the physics behind that, that would be great

 

you cant wire 2 dual 4 ohm speakers to a 2ohm load... 1 or 4 and assuming its actually 1 ohm stable it will be loudest at 1 ohm but it may be one of those amps built to be 2 ohm stable but its half ass plays at 1ohm so they rate it as such (sadly theres quite a few of these out there)

power acoustik is decent for the price but you have to realize its cheap ****. respect it and make sure everything else is legit and it will do all right.... give it shitty wire, crank everything, wire it all fucked up and it will blow up much sooner then later
