So i went to best buy and talked to the "Car Audio Specialist" (It actually said that on his name tag). I told him I heard good things about Alpine Type-Rs. He told me if i wasn't going to be running an amp that i wouldn't notice the difference between the Type-S and Type-Rs.

Is this true?

Not a bad price. If you want a decent upgrade in sound you should get an amp though. Head Units alone aren't the best.

 

you think i should get an amp? which kind would you recommend? and also type-r's or type-s's?

 

I would go with the r's

 

if you are getting an amp then you will notice a big difference with type r's. If thats the case then definately get components up front and mount the tweeter in the door panel. Its a super easy mod that you can do yourself. If you dont want an amp then stick to the type s's. You will still notics a difference in sq but not huge. The main thing is the volume. Are you thinking about getting a sub?? I would also look at that. Nothing major, a 10 inch in a ported box or something.
