Problems with base radio
Problems with base radio
i got in my silver cobalt sedan yesterday and i look at the radio and it is displaying the message "none" and "ERR" wich indicated, obviously, that there is no CD in (which there was) and an error associated with this.
i just happened to be driving by Bill Fox Chevrolet at the time so i pulled in and the guy told me that i would need my radio either reprogramed or replaced. he put my "symptoms" in the computer and told me that it would need to be replaced. i dont live around that dealership, so i told the guy that i would take it to Al Serra.
once i got in the car again, everything was working again. my question is if i can take it up to another dealership even when the problem isnt occuring and have my radio replaced. will they replace it because i tell them something happened yesterday but is now working today? i just want it fixed before my warranty runs up.

When my SS/SC was in the shop I drove a rental base 4dr cobalt sedan. It only had 300 some miles the radio did the same thing. I brought it up to their service department when I picked my SS up. They said that GM has been having issues with those radios. I tried putting a cd into the radio on that base cobalt at first it wouldnt take it, then it took it, played it, then when i shut the car off and turned it back on it loaded that ERR message you were talking about and wouldnt eject the cd. Then I just let it be and I went into the car the next morning to take it to work and it was ejected. I'd take it in and have them put another one in it.
well, i called al serra service dept. and they said to go ahead and bring it in. the thing is, i already have almost 11,000 miles on my car and i dont want to just let this go and forget about it b/c my warranty runs out at 36,000. with my luck, my radio will give out at 36,001.
same thing happened to mine a few days ago, but i didnt care because i was putting in an aftermarket one, which i did today and its waaay better, but i just turned my car off then back on and it went away so i dunno, id put in aftermarket in anyways if i were you, but thats just me, good luck..
well, i cant do aftermarket b/c i leased the car. al serra ordered the new radio and installed it this morning. the funny thing is, they ordered me the uplevel radio (the one with autovolume, auto eq, etc.) and installed that. i was happy b/c thats not what came on my car. it was basically a free upgrade. hey, ill take whatever i can get.
mines done that a few times, i should take it in, i dont know if they will believe me but maybe they know about it since theya re having problems with it....that would be nice if they upgraded it
