Putting A New Head Unit in, DIC will it work?

I read somewhere that after taking out the "stock radio" and putting in an aftermarket radio, you loose the DIC... Whatever you programed in will stay there but you will not be able to do anything else!...

Which is fine by me because I dont change anything anyway.... JUST THE OIL LIFE WHEN I CHANGE THE OIL...

QUESTION 1:::: Ok... can you guys give me some INSIGHT ON ALL THIS! All you guys that have put in aftermarket radios! Will I still be able to change the oil life setting???

QUESTION 2:::::::: I hear DEPENDING ON how you wire up the new radio you WILL NOT LOOSE THE DOOR CHIMES!! IS THIS TRUE??????? and if so tell me how!

I have answered this at least 5 different times already! Your DIC will not be affected neither will the door chimes.

No. You won't lose anything unless you have Onstar.

Oil life on mine works just fine. Something's amiss with yours. I'd take it to the dealer.

You won't lose anything. The only thing you will lose is Onstar if you have it. Door chimes, DIC, oil life, everything works. The guy who's oil life stopped working probably had a seperate problem when he installed the head unit, or got messing around back there with wires he shouldn't have........

If you are really all that worried about it scosche makes a factory fit install kit that moves all of these functions to right under your head unit. I am thinking of getting this not because I am worried about loosing these functions but just because I think it might be nice to have these contoles in the center.

Try here for the dash kit

They're wrong. Take it somewhere else. If by chance it really isn't working, take it to the dealer like I said because you've got another problem.
Maybe the oil change place just doesn't know the reset procedure.

dic still works fine. i have put radios in 3 cobalts now and no problems. oil life resets fine. my cobalt i have reset 3 times since my new stereo. i dont think jiffy lube knows how to reset it. read your manual

oh and the scosche dash kit is a rip off! just glass your own like i have. its only going to cost like 30 bucks and you get a nice custom look.
