question about installation

so ive been considering getting an AVIC D3 headunit and i was wondering how hard would it

be for me to install this unit? I have no experience with car audio but i was wondering if

someone could tell me how hard this would be. Any advice towards different headunits/

installation pointers would be greatly appreciated

well first of all make sure you order the dash kit (preferbly Metra).....installation is pretty straight forward.... directions come w/ the kit for stereo removal, and installation is a matter of color matching wires on your harness, stripping wires, and crimping, plugging in your antenna, etc... the hole in your dash in the back will need to be modified so the unit will fit all the way in the back.

you use a dremel saw or other tool that would cut the plastic covering the metal support in the back and bend back the metal piece.....this allows you to push the unit all the way in without the multiple wires coming out of your unit preventing a proper mount....if you can wait a week i'll post install pictures for you because i have to pull out my double din anyways to add my GPS module thats coming in the mail...
