Question About my Radio...
i want to put in a whole new stereo system in my 05 cobalt ss but before i do i have some questons that need to be answered.
1. Can i take out the entire factory system and put it in my g/f's 06 cobalt ls.
2. Any advice on what brand of audio stuff to buy. components, rear speakers, deck, subs, amps, etc
3. Audio damping material to put in trunk? needed or not needed?

I just replaced all my stuff with alpine, and you wont be dissapointed. Do you have the pioneer system? If so its going to be a lot of work replacing the speakers and connecting a aftermarket amp to those speakers.

You could but it would be alot easier on you if you don't use the factory amp. It would be easier to buy 1 4 channle amp and then an amp for the sub (or a 5 channle amp). Also you will have to do something for the tweeter mounts. Glassing tweeter mounts wouldn't be all that hard to do if you have had any experiance with it at all. You could make the mounts for the A-piller or for the top of the dash (or just about any where you wanted that has direct passage to where you want the sound aiming). If you make them for the A-piller than you can just pull out one of the screw covers and screw it in there and use that contor as a mold (the only bad thing about that is the screw plugs are kinda high on the piller).
So yes you can switch them but it might be more of a pain than it is worth.

yeah it could be done, i took my whole interior apart when i put my 4 channel amp and a single channel amp for the sub in. it took me a while but it was done right, actually im not done yet (waiting for the front speakers to come in). the project is not hard you have the panels removed, it just takes time. let me know if you need anything

If you think its not hard you havent replaced the stock components with new ones yet. You have to rewire both front speakers in there entirty to get them to work properly. That means running new wire through the dooring into the cab and to the amp. It alot more work then people think.

[QUOTE=Nickc84]why change the System bro ..? I have the 7 speaker pioneer in my 05 LS and that **** is bad ass![/QU
it is a great system. I just want more.. Plus I have been dying to do some performance stuff to my car but dont want to do anything until the warranty runs out, so i decided to do a new audio system.

i have replaced everything in the car now, its not too bad as long as you get all of the panels off. but it would be hard without takint the pannels and the backseat out.
