I have a 07 ss with the basic sound system and I wanted to upgrade the speakers and get an amp for aftermarket speakers that i will be buying soon. I wanted to know if there was a stock amp I could disconnect and easily install a more powerful amp to power the new speakers. I'm low on money and trying to save money by not getting a new HU and installing it myself and wanted to know if it was worth it or if it will take away to much SQ?

 

there is a way to bypass the factory amp, yes. It's in the how-to section.
