Question about the Wiring Harness.

I recently purchased the Metra 70-2103 adapter to find it doesn't have a wire for the Ignition. I thought that was odd. I looked through the Cobalt's wiring harness itself and it, too, lacks a specific wire for the ignition. It has one single wire for the 12V and ignition. For the time being, I've just paired my radio's 12V and ignition wires into that single wire, but that prevents the stereo itself from powering up automatically, obviously.

Now, my question is, how do I get around this so that my stereo will power on and off in conjunction with the ignition? Is there something I'm just missing, or do I have to do some custom wiring to get it work?

Of all the vehicles I've done a stereo installation with, I've never countered this problem. There is always a connection for the 12V and ignition, separately.

If you use a non "box" equipped harness you have to find an ignition switched feed for your new radio. The Cobalt doesnt have one, it uses computer signals to turn on.

So the Metra 70-2103 will NOT have said connector with it?
Is there a harness that DOES?

Link if so.
I just returned my 70-2102 to Best Buy, when asking for the 70-2103 they said; "Sorry, that 2102 is the only blue harness we carry...it's for Saturn Ions."

I'm like; "Oh...great, welp, thanks!"

I use the Ion harness when I install stuff, and just fabricate my own IGN/switched lead.

That's probably what I get for using Ebay.

Is there a way to make this work without the supplied wire/fuse tap? Or to fabricate my own? As well, I've never used a fuse tap before, so I'm not certain what all that entails. Any help is appreciated.

you can go to autozone and buy either a fuse tap or an "add-a-fuse" (much better product id recommend getting it instead of the fusetap if you can) the wire isnt special or anything. any 18g or so wire will work
