Quick Head Unit Wiring question.

Hey Guys, So Iwas having issues with My Stock head unit and finally bit the bullet and picked up a new AVH-P4300DVD head unit. I read all the Stereo FAQ and from what I understood I needed the Metra 70-2103. Im an 06 SS 2.4L with Pioneer system and no onstar> Is this correct? WHen I went to pick up the parts, they told that I need the PAC c2r-GM11b, and they basically refused to sell me anything else. So which harness do I actually need?

You won't get your door chimes, onstar, or an ignition source from the Metra harness. The PAC will provide all that. It's up to you if you want to retain the onstar, chimes, etc....if so get the PAC. Both harnesses will technically work.

Thanks mam, but I'm an 06 so I don't have onstar and if I'm not mistaken my door chimes and DIC come from my speedometer, atleast that's what I believe is true.

Thanks man. I think I'm all chimed out anyway And at the $160 price they told me was the going price for it, this thing is going right back to the store tomorrow morning.

Finished the install this afternoon and everything is working perfectly, thanks to all your helpful tips in these forums. Thanks for all your hard work man.

UPDATE: So my car got broken into and headunit stolen =(. When I went my insurer, they would only give me what I paid for the headunit minus depreciation, and $35 for install. They wouldn't cover my bezel or wiring harness saying it wasn't bolted to the car or some bs.

but the more ridiculous part is that I have to get the replacement one installed by a shop, and every shop that I've been to refuse to do it without the $150+ module. It's a 2006 SS with pioneer and no onstar, and I know that it's not needed, but they won't listen. Plus any shop need at least $80 for this install and I was only given $35 for it. I really don't want to have to pay $250+ out of my pocket for something that should be completely covered.

Anyway, I don't really know what I want you guys to do about it, just felt like ranting.
