Rear speakers not pushing any audio with the Pioneer Sound System?

Hello all,

Just bought my second cobalt, this time a 2008 Sport with the Pioneer sound system. The front 4 speakers and sub all sound great, but the 6x9's on the back are not making any noise. Is this normal with the Pioneer system, or is something wrong? What can I do to diagnose the speakers. I am pretty handy mechanically but have a sore spot for anything electrical. Any help would be appreciated.

take a 9 volt battery like what you'd find in a smoke detector and take 2 wires one from each battery terminal to each terminal on the speaker, it should move the speaker inward or outward which is how u figure out the polarity of the speaker. if nothing happens the speakers shot. but the speaker should move out and depending which ends positive and negative from the battery you can use this pic to figure out which wire is which so u hook it up right on the new speaker. hook it up backwards and your new speaker will distort wen u turn it up

first try..

so the stock amp has 2 channels that powers both the sub and 6x9s. if the only thing broken is the 6x9 then its a issue with the speakers themselves

It most likely seems like dead speakers then. The 6x9's dont have a specific fuse that might have blown do they? I am hoping I can borrow a multimeter to confirm that the connections are getting power, but that won't be until later this weekend. Thanks for the help so far
