I'm so annoyed at how we who bought Cobalts as soon as they came out get so royally screwed in comparison to this new radio that has everything I want and don't have and is totally incompatible to mine.

SO.

I've been scouring electronics stores and the internet and coming up with ****, ****, and EXPENSIVE ****.

Just recommend a nice looking double din HU with an aux-in, I don't need DVD or navigation, flip out neons and the kitchen sink for $1000.

yeah, i've been looking for the same, and i can't seem to find anything. i'd really, really like a screen (not a flip-out one, just a double-DIN with the screen out front), but i don't need navigation.

and, while AUX-in would be awesome, but i've got an ipod, so ipod integration would be really appreciated.

i LOVE the AVIC-D3, but it's $1000, but i don't need half the features it sports. anything that looks like it, for maybe half the price? (hopefully less?)

there are a lot more choices out there for the GTO, i don't understand why it's so hard to find this for the Cobalt.

oh, and i'd like to do without all the flashy, gaudy buttons. just something clean, please.

any pictures of you guys' installs?

Oh yeah, I would actually like not just aux-in, but iPod integration. Aux-in would solve the problem of the static from my wireless transmitter, but not the dying from looking down and looking through songs.

Would this fit our car?

make a car computer.

Get a P3 or P4 computer.

Buy a DC-DC power supply

Buy a sound card which has separate subwoofer plug and a decent VRMS.

Get RoadRunner Front End.

Buy a some stereo to RCA adapters.

Buy a double-din touchscreen or a 7" touchscreen.

Buy a 4ch amp.

Install computer and other equipment into car.

Viola! You have more possibilities than any 1000 deck will give ya.

awesome idea... however wouldn't it be easier to buy an old laptop? have it stashed someplace and hooked into your AUX fuse so when you turn on the car it turns on? then buy the touchscreen some rca adapters and call it a day for cheaper? i would love to do this. lol there was actually something in new egg a bit ago about a 7" touch screen computer that would be perfect for this.. i'll find it

ok maybe some are a bit more expensive but

http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCateg...tra-Mobile-PCs if you go with a carputer you can get HP tuners and tune whenever the hell you want lol

if your looking cheap with good options, I would look at the JVC units, or even the cheap Double din units on Ebay.
