Scosche dash kit

Has anyone installed the new Scosche GM1593B dash kit?? The price is high but it supposely retains everything in the driver information center. I bought a kit like this for my mazda6 and it was well worth the money. But i was just seeing if anyone had it installed yet.

Heres what it says on Scosche's web site

Part Number: GM1593B
04+ GM LAN w/ harness

Applications:

2004-up Malibu

2004-up Malibu Maxx

2005-up Pontiac G6

2005-up Chevy Cobalt

GM vehicles using the LAN system integrate vehicle diagnostics, driver information and safety warnings into the radio. Removing the radio interrupts the computer, causes check engine codes and looses programmable functions…until now. Scosche created the complete solution including the plug-n-play integration harness and installation kit features a LCD screen with controls to retain all programmable functions and warning controls of the factory system. We make integrating with the most advanced computer network on the road as simple as a conventional install. Only Scosche can deliver technology made easy matched with the quality and reliability you expect from an OEM.

I don't understand why you would need it for a cobalt. our radio doesn't control any of the warnings or resets for our cars....maybe i'm just confused as to what it's really for. chevy improved this problem by installing those little buttons to the right of our steering wheel

I don't get it? why would we need it? people have swapped out head units without any problems or CELs.

She's exactly right, if you want to buy it buy it, but you are wasting your money. What they're talking about is the DIC, which we have in our instrument panel. On the Malibus there isn't one on the dash, it shows up on the factory radio (which BTW is a horrible design if anyone's used it...I had it in my rental and hated it). Probably the same for the G6 but I don't know.
