Single din HU with nav?
I'm looking at aftermarket sound systems for my 00 GP. I know I cannot fit double din HUs in the GP without modifying the dash
, and I'm not good enough with bondo or fiberglass to make custom dash trim
So does anyone have a HU with a flip out screen with GPS built in? I've been looking at a few kenwood units I've seen but I want to know what else is out there.
I also need new 6x9 rears and will probably get front speakers as well. Any recommendations? I'm not looking to spend a ton of money on the speakers. Not worried AS much about the HU, but I wanna try to keep it under $800.

Its defiantly hard to find a flip out with nav in your price range i know JVC is comming out with a new Khameleon which would fit your dash like a glove but if your set on a flip out id say go pioneer.
Maybe not every competition set up uses that, so I blew it a bit out of proportion. You have blown your experience with Kenwood out of proportion as well. Garmin is nice and all, but last time I used a $500 Garmin trying to get to Michigan it tried to take me to Illinois. Was talking good about Alpine. I will say I have used both Kenwood and JVC and they have good systems, but they just don't have the clarity of an Alpine. Apparently you haven't used any Alpine headunits.
All of the loud best sounding systems I have ever heard have had alpine headunits. They are indeed the industry's leading mobile media manufacturer. They also won the award for the best car navigation system this year.
Since you were smart with me and all...

built-in nav, uses horizon software single din flipout.
I like jensen HU's alot, not many other people do, but I'd much rather have this **** than a dual or pyle or break the bank on a pioneer.
also "everyone uses alpine in competitions" thats jokes dude...they do sound great though
Welcome to JENSEN

id like to go further because i HAVE used alpine and i agree they make good radios but the most important thing your missing is this... the OP asked about navigation. specifically kenwood navigation and under 800, he didnt ask about whats the best sounding radio or what has the most bullshit made up awards. i applaud you for suggesting alpine they do make some good stuff BUT everything your fighting about isnt even in the ballpark of what the OP even wants. all he asked about was navigation and flip out. to make matters worse alpine only makes one current flip out HU, it doesn't have navigation and its 1000. Do you think hes really going to buy it for more then he wanted to spend without the one feature he wanted in the first place?
the khameleon is badass i played with one last night when i bought my new stereo to go back to single din i need to sell my double din. if you interested its not expensive($325 obo) and you could buy the addon nav and be way under your 800 budget so you could get someone to get your dash done and then still save money. its a kenwood ddx512 btw
