Someone explain HD radio to me

I'm interested in installing a new head unit in the C6 because i want HD radio. What's all needed for HD? Just a deck? Are there other items i would need?

Before anyone asks.. There is an all 80's station broadcasting in phoenix that i want to get.

i think you need a deck that is HD ready and then a box just like you would need for XM or sirus to do the decoding. Like I said I think.

No special decoders are neccesary, assuming the deck you have has it built in. Decoders are for decks that are not HD ready.

HD radio is just digital opposed to the analog that you are used to. It's just like digital TV. Where you used to get "Channel 3", now you get channel 3.1, 3.2, 3.3, etc. It's kind of like recieving MP3 quality sound over a broadcast.
