Speakers not working with new head unit
yes... the reason why u cant control the sub directly with the stock amp is not only because it wasnt set up that way but both the 6X9s and sub use the same channels on the amp
gotcha. so should i just get an amp for the sub? or do i need one for the sub and one for the toher stuff?
what size is the new sub... if its a 10 you should see if it fits in the stock box... if its a different size then your going to want to choose either stock or aftermarket sub. Mixing sizes of subs in a car will sound like ass (may be a bit louder but due to cancellations not as much as you would think)
The stock sub box is removable.
But if you decide to just get an amp and use the stock sub; keep in mind that it uses dual 2 ohm coils. Depending if your amp of choice can handle that or not, you may need to wire them in series for a single 4ohm load.
