Steering wheel controls?

Has anyone actully connected a aftermarket steering wheel control unit to their aftermarket head unit? When I took out my factory deck I couldnt figure out which wires went to the steering wheel controls. I also read somewhere that one might not work with out steering wheel controls.

Ive done a search and all i can come up with is the post explaining all the pins in the radio harness and at the bottom it says steering wheel controls might not work with aftermarket head units.

I know that I've posted about this before.

I'm sure your Alpine has a jack in the back for a wired remote. If it does, pick up the PAC SWI-ALP. www.pac-audio.com or check them out on ebay. They cost around $50 or so. Installation is pretty simple, you need to provide power and ground to the box, and tag one of the wires in the factory harness for the data transmission. You also need to send 12v to another wire in the factory harness to energize the switches/resistor network for the buttons. Then you plug it in to your deck and program it.

If your receiver doesn't have a wired remote jack, you have to get the PAC SWI-X which is compatible with all aftermarket receivers but you have to program it with the remote that came with it and mount an IR eye.

Go right on their website, www.pac-audio.com and look at the installation instructions. Its pretty straightforward. You put in that you have a cobalt and it tells you what wires you need to tag/supply power to. If you need any help PM me but its pretty easy.....
