Steering Wheel Swap ... Radio Control?

Brought home the 2008 LT today and changes are in its future. Change #1... convert to a leather steering wheel. The new wheel will have remote radio controls (the current one does not have remote radio control). The questions are:
- Is the car prewired at the column for these controls or do I need to go all the way back to the radio?
- Is this "simply" a wheel swap or will wiring in the new switches be significant?

Thanks,
NK

Do a quick search. There is a thread already about it.

On a quick note, NO it is not easy...

Read the previous threads but they are for models different than mine. One was a like for like swap where the car had the remote radio controls already on the replaced wheel. The other was the base model and as such it was a rather extensive change.

What I was hoping to find was someone who knew if the remote radio harness was prewired to the steering wheel on a car that is 1LT & Cruise or if there are other parts that I need to get/make in order to swap out a wheel to one that has the remote radio controls.

Thanks to all. So far I'm impressed with the Cobalt. I hope it stays that way.

There actually all the same. If it didn't come with it then you gotta add all the stuff and be able to program it into the ECU.

The different years and models may differ by wiring or style of component bu they all operate under the same concepts as far as installing/adding components.

New wheel with radio control buttons installed ... working great ... and without needing to do any programming. Plug & play!
