stereo noob, need advice

one of my friends is selling me her old system from her car at a really good price, and since we're tight, even though I don't really need the system, but rather want the system to help her out, I'm buying it off of her......... it's 2 10" kicker subs and the actual box...... her amp and capacitor went on her new system so I know I need to buy those................ anyways, I was jsut curious if there was a way to wire the system in using parts of the stock pioneer system............ for example.... is there an easy way to replace the stock amp with a heavier amp and run the wiring to the new subs directly from there or from the stock wiring............ like I said, I'm a wiring noob, and dont have anybody who could help me install it (I would ask her, but her controlling ***** of a boyfriend did her wiring and he hates me for some odd reason..... maybe because his girlfriend trusts me more than him....)

Bitter Much?
Maybe its because I can tell from just that post alone that you obviously have feelings for her, so I'm sure in person this fact is kinda hard for you to hide..."Never rub another mans rubarb"

This all seems like alot of effort just to do a favor for some girl that aint even giving it out to you but if you want to hook it up, you have to A) get an LOC and splice into the stock sub wires to run an amp for the subs, or B) get a new head unit with RCA outs on the back and run those to the sub amp, either way then you need some power wire, ground wire and speaker wire. You can add a sub amp without replacing the stock amp
The easiest way is to replace your HU with an aftermarket one(one with 3rca outs on it) then you don't have to worry about running a remote wire fron a fuse, aftermarket HU have a remote wire built in,

You have to do me a favor though, reach down between your legs and search around till you find your *****, once you have it firmly in your hands the fact that you are a man should come back to you, after this i suggest you, hike up your skirt, get in the game and tell her how you feel

wow..... I think that was a burn................. yes, I have feelings for her and yes I am a *****............................... anyways, back to the stereo question... one of my co-workers, who pretty much has the same exact system (well, his subs are a bit bigger, but same style and brand).... he was telling me today one thing I can do, which he said he has done to his (and, well.... that system can ******* rock the store... literally, parts fall off shelves out abck when he ahs it on all the way, he cracked the hatch of his car from music) he told me about something, I believe it was a hi/low converter..... basically he said its spliced to the wiring for the rear speakers, and draws from them and basically uses the low frequencies of the rear speakers to go to the amp/system..... something along those lines.... anybody know about those things?

a LOC isn't some crazy way to get super loud if your suggesting it is. But yes if you dont get an aftermarket HU then you will need a Line output converter to use an aftermarket amp

oh and a cap isnt necessary.

Im not saying that one of those hi/low thigns is some magical device that'd make the sound more intense...... I was jsut saying that the way his system hits, and considering that's exactly what he has, that maybe there's merit to it

thats cool just wondering because some peeps think the oddest stuff. in terms of the way his system is... not really the LOC is worse quality then running a direct RCA from an aftermarket HU

Alot of you system sound and quality has to do with box, car and install more then equipment. Mind you shitty equipment is just that but there's more to it then that.

hmmm, so, it sounds like it'd be a pain in the ass to maintain the stock HU and hook up a system to it then?

I wasn't really trying to burn you....well maybe just a little. Think of it more as motivation. It sounded like you needed some.

As for LOC's some of the higher end ones make it easy to hook them up (in regards to your comment about them being a pain in the ass) Take a look at the RF 360.1 or the JL audio clean sweep. I don't know about the 360.1 but the clean sweep has the remote wire in it

360 can be used to sense "remote" but both 360 and clean sweep are processors. both are nice but not necessarily needed. quality of signal would be much better then a regular loc thou
