Stereo questions

I have a 2006 cobalt lt and i want to put a system in my car but i do not want to change my stock stereo because of warranty reasons, what should I do??????

getting a wiring harness shouldnt void your warranty. But.... you could always get a line-out converter. Thats what I did to put subs in my car.

Yea to keep the stock H/U you need to buy a line-out converter so your amp can pick up the rca connections. Don't buy a cheap one because you'll get a lot of feedback and poor sound quality. I believe you can splice it into the speaker wires in your trunk.
Unfortunately the stock H/U doesn't have a remote wire that you can tap in to, so you'll need to tap into the sunroof fuse in the fusebox on the passenger side of your middle console to get a remote line. That wire can easily be fed around the carpeting and door trim, and then between the rear seats to the trunk.
Other than that it's fairly simple, the battery is in the trunk so it's an easy set up

changing out the stereo wont void your warrenty... maybe on the stock speakers but thats about it

im doing the same thing on my SS. keeping the stock head unit but adding a JL audio system. actually i'm doing this in about 1 hour and 10 mins. lol

Agreed. I changed the deck on my car. The only thing is if you blow a speaker, it won't be covered by the warranty but who gives a **** anyway. If they blow just get a new pair of better quality speakers.
