Stock ECU?
Stock ECU?
Hey,
I recently bought a 2006 Cobalt SS/SC, and when I was test driving it the cruise control didn't work. It didn't even show the "engaged" message on the dic. I had the dealership look into it and they told me an "aftermarket ECU" was installed and the car is "probably making more then stock HP" What I want to know is how you can tell if the computer has been changed, and if it is possible to get my cruise control to work. There are no other modifications on the car, (maybe fuel injectors, which are lime green colored) Thanks for any advice.

stock injectors are lime green if i remember correctly. if not they are the gm stage injectors. and like stinky said i'm pretty sure its all software. an actual aftermarket ecu (pcm and bcm) is pretty much impossible. or at least very improbable
try posting the same question in the "performance" area of the forum and see if you get more replies. theres lots of knowledgeable peeps on here so someone should be able to help you out

The stock injectors are lime green.
And with the ability to program the ECU an aftermarket one is not likely.
Didn't some people have the problem of loosing the Cruise Control when hooking up LED 3rd brake lights or was it just LED brake lights without load resistors, can't recall at the moment, you might want to try the Apperance section and look for any threads called LED Brake lights or 3rd Brake light, might be some info there as well.
Stinky-Did I start a trend with calling you that or did I just jump on the Bandwagon

Thanks for all the advice! I actually did add a LED 3rd brake light, but the problem was happening way before that. I just got the car 2 weeks ago so I am not familiar with all the electronic components.
I will re-post in the performance section.
