Post Stock Pioneer Sub and Aftermarket Subs

Curious...

For those of you who have the Pioneer 7 speaker system and have added an aftermarket amp/sub, did you take out the stock Pioneer sub or did you leave it in?

Anyone knows any pros/cons in sound quality if you leave the stock sub in connected along with your aftermarket amp and subs?

There is no real pro to leaving them both connected. This will only hurt your sound quality. This will happen any time you have two different types of subs or two different types of amps connected at once. The timing and tuning of the subs will not be the same, creating more of a jumbled sound. Just think of too many people all talking at once, you only hear one of them and if you try to listen to them all it is nonsence.

The only way this could be a pro is if you hook up a switch to turn your subs on and off. You could if you wanted put in a large sub or a SPL sub to use some times while your factory sub is switched off. Then other times turn off your after market sub and run your factory sub for more of a SQ sound.

Basically, I am just telling you to get rid of your factory sub if you plan on buying an aftermarket sub.

Mine is still in the car, even though I have 2 10" Fosgates hooked up. The Pioneer is not hooked up, but if and when i take my car to the track, all I have to do is take out the sub box and re-connect the quick connect for the pioneer and it will work like stock.

So..you do not have to take it out, but it is recommended that you disconnect it for installation of aftermarket subs
