stock sub wiring

my friend was checking out my car this weekend and he was looking at the stock sub,

and we noticed Ithink is 3 wires in the wire loom going to the sub.

what the 3 wires for the speaker only needs to for the sound, or is there an amp in there or something?

I have an ss/sc by the way.

thank you,
justcurious....

Actually I believe the Sub is bridged off of the 6/9's. The Amp is a 6 channel Amp with 2 channels going to the tweeters, 2 channels going to the 6.5's in the door and 2 channels going to the 6/9's in the back. Then the Sub is bridged off of that.

there is no built in amp or anything like that on the sub. The reason for there being more than 2 wires is because its a DUAL VOICE COIL sub.....case closed nuff said.....lol

wow interesting how they did that. At first i didnt belive they would put the 6X9s and subs together but heres a quote from the pioneer site

"270 watt peak output power
2-Channels front tweeters
2-Channels front door speakers
2-Channels for 6 x 9" speakers with bridged mono channel for the 10" subwoofer"

wow i dont even have one and i know this, the amp is for the whole stereo, its mounted under your dash, if it does connect the sub from the 6x9's then is uses some form of a passive crossover.
