STUPID DASH 05 cobalt

so i got my Dual radio all hooked up. its a brand new deh-665. it works great, no DIC functions lost. but it doesnt fit in the dash. its too deep. its a 2005 cobalt by the way. any suggestions? like, are all after market radios the same depth? its hitting on the plastic thats part of the dash and theres a metal bracket behind it. its about a half inch too deep. any suggestions?

there are two little bolts on each side of the metal bar that goes across. i don not think that is it needed. i just unbolted them and it came right out. as for the plastic peice, take a dremel or a hot knife of some sort and cut it out. my dash has been fine without it. it really makes a lot of room back there. good luck.

You can cut the stupid plastic thing behind the radio in the dash and it frees up alot of room. That's what I did to mine and it fits perfectly

There were like two little pieces of plastic holding it together on each side. Cut those off and then the plastic thing comes right out. There is so much room back there once u remove it. It took me less then a minute to do.

thanks, you are the man! worked like a charm and a real easy job. i used tin snips. the longest part of the job was taking out the 3 bolts. i could fit a big screen back there with all that extra room only not really

when it comes to radios, its not whether they look good or not. dual is somewhat known for its crappy quality and lack of features

it bends super easy, enough so that you can get a socket wrench back there to get them out. just pull it toward you enough so that you have clearance.

sweet thanks! well luckly the only thing i had to remove was the plastic piece and crutch field was on the money for clearence! one nice wireharness is by metra pn: XSVI-2103 where it has a module so you dont have to run a tapped 12v source and it retains the RAP so the radio will stay on untill you open the drivers door!

glad i could help that dude that said dual sucks will be happy to know i got a kenwood deck for my carnow because i got an insane deal on it. i have a question though. how come no matter what fuse i use to run the power to the deck, my radio will not work when i turn the accessory on? it works fine when i have the key in the on position but not when its only at accessory. i tried like, every fuse. it either gives me constant power or power when the key is in the on position. and whats batman Ftmfw mean? how much did that harness with the module cost?
