Here's some info on the v2 features. The v2 amps will put out the same wattage no matter what impedance your speakers are. The w7 subs are 3 ohm, so if you use an amp that is rated at 1000watts RMS@2 ohms, you're going to get a lot less than that with 3 ohm sub. The v2 series is definitely the way to go for a w7.

13w7 is 1.5 ohm wired correctly and slash v1 and v2 both put out 1000 watts at any impedance 1.5 to 4. So with the 13 you dont really have to stick with a jl amp, and you can definetly get a better sub for the price of a w7 unless you're getting a deal on it like i did.

I thought all w7's had a single 3 ohm voice coil. The 13w7 has dual 1.5 ohm voice coils, which means it can be wired in series to put a 3 ohm load on an amp or in parallel to put a .75 ohm load on an amp. I don't think too many amps can handle a .75 ohm load, so you will need to wire it in series. There is no way to wire a dual 1.5 ohm sub to end up with a 1.5 ohm load that I am aware of.

The 13w7 is rated at 1500watts RMS. An amp that puts out 1000watts RMS will not allow you to get the most out of the 13w7. You would be better off going with a 10w7 or a 12w7 (1000watts RMS). Even an 8w7 will give you more than enough bass to make your car rattle like crazy and it requires less power (500watts RMS). I heard an SQ system with a single 8w7 and it had plenty of punch without being overwhelming and painfully loud. I have a single 10w6 in JL's H.O. enclosure and it keeps me satisfied. I may try an 8w7 in the same box, but I would have to make an adapter ring to mount it in the 10" hole.
