Sub Wiring
Sub Wiring
Okay here is my question.
I want to put subs in my ss/sc on a stock headunit, but i HATE the sound of rca converters.
Since our cars have a stock sub is there any way to somehow tap into those signal wires? Possibly converting them to RCA. so it hits as sharp as the stocker?
Also is there a amp turn on remote wire in the stock harness, or is a fuse-tap our only option.
thanks,
Jack

i dont see why you couldnt. but honestly idk cuz i dont have the pioneer package. but i have a stock h.u and i get compliments on how mine sounds all the time.
i believe it is only fuse tap. but dont quote me on that cuz tweeter told me that.

I've got mine off the wires that go to the factory sub, into a Scosche Converter and it sounds great. and I just used the fuse tap. the fac. sub is a dvc speaker so they have four wires running to the box, you only have to use one side. u just have to figure out the best ones to use lol.. I guess you could run some wires off that and clip some rca cables and crimp them and the wires together. Now I've never actually tried that so I dont know if it would work.. but it sounds like it would lol... otherwise, dont know what to tell you besides getting an aftermarket headunit.
if you dont want to use a line out convertor then it wouldnt matter what wires you tap there are no rca's in the stock system whatsoever.
BUT what i woud recommend if you have your mind set would be to find a amp or processor that has high level inputs... fosgate and MTX are 2 that come to mind that usually do but several other brands do as well
and no there is no remote on the stock hu... use the sunroof fuse

a number of routes you can go...
1) if your amp has HIGH INPUT you can just leech signal off the 4 wires going to your sub, (2 blue, and 2 green, marked wire is posative).
2) rca converter, if you use a better quality one, yea wont hurt a thing as far as quality goes. Scosche Converter = just fine.
3) splicing some rca to the wires, NOT A GOOD IDEA, wires are spun for better signal transfer, you can run into distortion issues due to exposed shielding, tons of bullshit.... not worth your time.
As for fuse, use the sunroof fuse or wipers fuse, using a fuse tap. be careful though, we have small fuses, so you need to get a smaller tap, or cut it down to size.
