Subwoofer Help

My infinity kappa isnt hitting at all. I checked the fuses and connections, everything seems to be ok. The amp is powered up and running. The coils on the sub are good and the cone is not broken. Recently it would hit a few times an then stop. A minute or so later, hit a couple more times and stop...... Anyone got an idea where I should look next?

does the amp stay on the whole time, or does it cut off when the subs wont hit?

soemthign similar also happened to me right before my stock radio went out...

but if you havent checked, id make sure all the speaker wires are in tight, on the amp and sub.

I'd say blown sub is what there getting at.
When you push on it its either going to be loose as hell and sound like nails on a chalk board, or its going to be stiff and feel like even if you stood on the damn thing it wouldn't move

The coils are fine, the amp stays on, connections are tight. The one thing i did notice is my box terminals were melted. Got some new today but i need to get a trunk mat or something to support the box for the trunk cause its been in my back seat since my trunk mat split and the sub kept falling over...... Im thinking the terminals melted and were no longer making contact between the amp's output wires and the boxes internal wires. Question is, why did they get so hot?.......

Your terminals melted???
WOW
Can't say that I've ever seen that before.

In the process of your box getting tossed around could it have come in to contact with the power/ground wire?

make sure you dont have one of the coils wired out of phase with the other coil or the woofer wont move at all and seem like the amp is dead

Replaced the terminals, removed the capacitor, got new/larger amp to box terminal wires and put it all back in the car. Everything seems to be ok now. Im gonna keep an eye on it.

The positive side terminal was melted to the point where the wire was melted to the metal connection inside the housing...... Kinda scary considering the amount of heat that would take!

well not rilly heat as much as an ark... sounds like it was grounding out and arcking( would cause the no sub's working and the fried connection problem.
