Subwoofer Wiring Question

I recently purchased 2 12inch JL Audio W6 v1's and i am having some trouble trying to figure out what is the best way to wire them so i get the most out of them. I came across this website that shows some different ways to wire the subs to achieve different ohm ratings.

My first question - The lower the ohm number, the more power there is going to the subs?
Secondly - How should I wire these subs to get the most out of them?

This website shows different ways to wire the subs:
http://www.soundkraft.com/Subwoofer_Wiring.htm

This website shows the specifications for my subs:
http://mobile.jlaudio.com/pdfs/8-12W6_BDS.pdf

I have a 400 watt amp but I'm not sure of the ohm rating.

Can anyone help me out??

no idea on how stinky saw a clarion 2 channel but to tell you how to wire it we would need to know the number of channels on the amplifer along with its RMS ratings and the speakers ohm and if they are single or dual voice coil

and if the coils are dual 6 thats the stupidest **** ive seen in my life

emp....click on the second link and it will bring you to the JL Audio website where it gives you all the specs for the W6 v1...as for the amp its a two channel 400W amp and im not positive on the RMS ratings...im not at home to check the book but im pretty sure the specs are very similar to this newer version if that helps.....

so your amps probably ~300rms at 4 ohms. and due to dual 6 coils (retarded) you must wire the individule subs in series and then wire them both in parallel together for a 6ohm load.

Sadly your 300w rms speakers will both get something like 200rms together due to the coil configuration.

the diagram from the first link i posted shows that wiring them just parallel would give me a 1.5 ohm load...wouldnt that be better? and provide me with more power?

Pretty sure that amp is only good for 2 ohm stereo and 4 ohm mono

Your going to want to look for a mono (1 channel) amp that will put out about 600 watts at 1.5 ohms- this will not be easy to find
So the best you can look for is a mono amp good for 600-700 watts or so at 1ohm
or you can look into the JL amps which are built to run these subs but are way too much money for the product you get.

If you have the ability to order online this amp will do what you want and its a smoking deal, plus youl have headroom if you want to go bigger one day

if i wire the sub to run at 6 ohms, the amp will power it at 6 ohms but if i wire the subs for 1.5 ohms wont the amp just power them at 4 ohms? i just want to get the most out of this combination without buying anything so how should i wire the subs?

and the exact model number the amp is a clarion apx401-2

yea im going to have to buy a new amp...basically want to look for a 1 channel amp that puts out about 600 watts and runs at 1 ohm?

does it have to be 1 ohm? what are my options?

amps and subs are stupid they just do what you tell them. Impedance (ohm) is provided by the subs... amp will either play it, try and go into protect or blow up. Obviously since i work at a shop that makes a significant portion of total revenue from amp repair (buying broken and selling locally fixed) many people choose the blow up route

so your wiring options with those subs are 1.4 and 6. You can either find a 1 ohm stable amp, probably 750-800w @1ohm so you get ~600 at 1.5 or find a 2 channel 4 ohm stable bridged, thats 750-800 @ 4ohm so you get ~6600 at 1.5 or lastly buy an amp that produces the same power at any impedance (most have a limit like 2-8 so watch for that) like the jl slash series or alpine pdx (theres a few others too but not many)
