switchblade key for our car?

I saw a switchblade key for the .solstice and I'm thinking if it will work with my car? It is the same key fob inside the flip key and the key can be cut and I can just program it right? Anyone done this already? I'd be willing to try it if no one has.

Wow! Nice link, Alex.

Cheaper for the 06's, unless that's just because I chose the 4 button one.
5 button would be a remote start.

Nice find but I found some on eBay too and its just the plastic cover and key so I can just put my key fob inside.. they are pretty expensive though :/ lol but will keep it updated.

I want it to look oem though with the pontiac logo on back

see if the dealer will program one of those stock pontiac style ones for your car. if that key has the same style rfid, i don't see any reason it wouldn't work.

actually quite a few manufactureres are switching to switchblade keys. GM uses them on pretty much all their new cars except for their trucks and larger Suvs. VW still uses them. Mitsubishi uses them. I think Nissan might. Mazda does. It's becoming very popular these days, their much nicer to carry around than a separate fob and key, no more getting stabbed in the leg by a key.

Well they told me they couldn't do it. But I'm convinced its possible since the solstice has them and the g8 does as well. Some solstice have a regular key and fob separate like us and I seen some change to switchblade. I'll try it .out and buy one when I get paid next week

Yeah, dealership was lying.
Any locksmith could do it for you anyway. Both programming and key cutting.
I wanna do this when I have the extra cash for all of that.
I don't know how much key cutting is, but its $50 from the dealership to program the fob, then that cost on top of the switchblade.

I wonder if that aftermarket switchblade has the Chevy logo on it though.

Yes, you can. You're gonna need to get it cut though.
Not the fob though.

That doesn't make sense.. Our fob is shaped like a teardrop and that's shaped like a square.

You could say that about any visual mod for our cars.
