My system itself doesn't draw that much, rockford power 1000 and a kicker L7,but i have an air ride sytem(power sucking compressor) and a tv and a ps2 in the trunk that i like to play with with the car off so it works for me.

Cap or not?

I would do the cap to help with voltage in your car, and yes the cap will help your alternator in the vehicle since it doesnt get hit as hard by bass notes. A second battery is like a cap because it does have a resistance factor to it also. I have three orion hcca amps running to hcca subs and compnoents and what not in my vehicle. I have a twelve farad cap and a red top, and yes, my lights only dim on the hardest bass notes durin rock music or heavy rap. The cap wont be able to keep a charge when the beat is that repitative. I would suggest a isolator on your car if you do a second battery, that will keep one charged if you decide to sit and listen to your music for a extended period of time. Good luck and any questions just yell Ill see if I can help ya.

Well I'm only running about 600 rms and MY headlights were flickering, so IN MY OPINION if you want stable headlights, YOU NEED ONE. It is a hell of a lot cheaper than adding a second battery and a lot less work. If you still need a second battery after that go for it, the cap will still serve a purpose even in that set-up, and their only a buck or two depending on the size.

What you need to do is get a metal bar and place it on the pos and neg of your battery. That's gonna be boomin!

lol just proving a point. Honestly nothing is "needed" but each situation is different so theres really no standard electrical upgrade that will be *best* for everyone. Caps, batteries and even the Big 3 all have their uses and depending on not only the system but also the user depends on what would be the best way to upgrade your electrical system
