for those with in-dash dvd players

so i got my indash dvd player installed a couple months ago. With it i got a playstation ( don't know if that matters)

So last month my check engine light comes on. i bring it to the dealership ( as you guys call the stealership) and they won't fix the light. They say the codes it is throwing is something wtih the clutch and 3 others i can't think of off the top of my head. They said they checked and what the codes say there is nothing wrong with the car. They say they won't reset the light without charging me an hours labor. They say the dvd player is throwing the codes. Can this happen? What can i do? i want to avoid taking out the dvd player and playstion but if its a last resort and needs to be done then whatever i want my car more than a dvd player. Any help would be greatly appreciated since wiring and computer stuff with the car i am totally clueless about.

i've done everything i can possibly think off. i took out the dvd player and put the stock radio back in and the light didnt reset. took it to the dealership and they still wont fix it. Their exact words "take your **** out, bring it to another dealership and try and fool them. we arn't stupid and don't come back"

They told me the audio place splicced wires, i told the place that and they claim bullshit and have been very helpful with my car so i find it hard to believe that they would try and **** up my car and then help to get the dealership to work on it without fixing the problem. i'm just gonna open the dash and see what is really going on back there. if the wires are spliced im gonna be owning that audio shop for f'n up my car. If not the dealership is in for a earful

Did you buy the car from that dealership? If I went through all that hassle to play their game and pull my CD player out (that's unnecessary to do) and they told me that, I think I'd flip. The DVD player won't throw a light and even if it did, they should be able to simply fix it when everything is back in stock condition. If you bought the car from them and they're doing this to you I would do everything in your power to make their lives miserable. I'm sure you can think of some ways.....

If you want the CEL cleared just take it to your local Auto Zone or just a parts store, they will hook it up to your car with OBD scanner and then tell your right there what the problem is and then clear it, free of charge!

ya i'm gonna do that. first i told the audio place to put the dvd player and alarm back in and im taking it to another place to just check out the wiring cuz everyone around my town that i've told i got it done at this place told me to never go there....

So after the place that i should of went to checks it im going to bring it to auto zone to reset and then hopefully it doesn't come back on

actually.. i can throw a code.. but not on our cars.. alot of high end cars have their radio's spidered into there cars computer system, but our car has a simple harness and it wont throw any codes, i've had my in dash for a while and never got anything .. also just for my intrest where did you put your play station and how did you hook it up (power wise)

The radio in our cars is spliced into many function of the car and can set a check engine light by itself. There is a BCM code for loss of communication with the radio, which is probably what turned that light on.

i mounted it under my dash board.... to power it i think i bought a 50 watt power converter for 50 bucks. just ask the place for enough to run a a playstation. it converts the power from a/c power to d/c so u can plug ur playstation in. i payed for it to be done but this is just my general understanding of what happened. i'm new at the whole wiring stuff.

Advance Auto will plug a tech into it, give you a print out of whats wrong and reset the CEL if they can. Hit one of them up if you know of any around you.

only thing the dvd player can throw is a fuse, not a check engine light
