turn signal, door speaker problems

My daughter bought a 2006 cobalt last week and the front turn signals quit working along with the speakers in the doors. The person she got the car from didnt take just real good care of it. My question is is this something that happens to alot of cobalts? the bulbs are new(3 sets just to be sure) and still nothing. The back signals work fine and the indicator flashes normal. I will be doing a voltage check on it when I get to work tomorrow and was just wondering if anyone had any ideas as to the problem and possible advice.

The door speakers are known to fail. They are cheap and since they are located in the doors, they get wet. If they are the original 2006 speakers, They are most likely bad. Does the car have the stock stereo in it? Just trying to rule out if something isn't connected properly to an aftermarket deck.

Turn signal issue, I'm not sure. check the fuses. could be a simple fix.

the car has an aftermarket deck and they worked until yesterday but they are the original speakers and we have had alot of rain in the past week and that could very well explain that issue. As far as the the turn signals I did not see a fuse in the panel in the console or under the hood. I could have over looked it. will check again tomorrow.

probably not directly related. Water sounds like it would be the demise of the speakers. If there is no hyperflash then its probably going to be the fuse as rain suggested as the BCM isnt seeing an incorrect load on the wires

A common failure on these carts is the little harness on the headlights. It has the headlights, indicator light, and turn signal on it. The sockets corrode and the metal breaks inside the socket. Wiggle the bulbs around with the hazards on and see if that helps it find power. If so, new headlight harnesses.

Talking

I want to thank all you fine folks here for your suggestions and ideas. As suggested the door speakers are trashed and Blue, you hit it right on the head. Ended up having to replace both headlamp harnesses, the one on the passenger side had a slight melting in the wiring and the drivers had a broken down wire. Replaced them today and works like a charm. Again thank you all. I will admit even with the problems Ive seen so far I will probably get me one.
