tweeter install...

I tore the door panels off my car today to install some Infinity Kappa component speakers, and stopped because I'm not sure how I want to install the tweeter. Just looking for some suggestions since it won't bolt in to the factory mount.

I installed mine the cheap way...put some door insulation style foam tape around the outer edge of the tweeter and kinda shoved it all between the two mounts. It holds fairly tight and doesn't go anywhere...but it can fall out when you take the door off. It works.

I installed some Jl audio component speakers into a guys cobalt couple months ago.. Dont got no pictures though but if i remember correctly i took out the factory tweeter from behind the plastic grill. Then i took 2 1/2... or 3 inch circler cutter and cut out a clean hole where the factory twitter grill is and the after market jl twitter fit in like a glove. Only thing i didnt like, it still said pioneer under the twitter which was label JL lol but hey if your up for some custom go to town.

you should be able to pop the tweeter out from the door, and the one you have from Infinity should pop out of it's oversized holder, and you can just put it in the stock location. otherwise, I poped the stock one out and drilled out for the new one, just be careful where you drill as the studs on the door are close to the tweeter and might get in the way when putting the panel back on.
