Tweeters Not Working?
Tweeters Not Working?
I have a AVIC-Z110BT and I'm having a few problems that noticed lately. Here are a few questions asked to a friend on the forum here, but he is not having this problem although he has the same headunit. (He is running an aftermarket amp, speakers, wires, etc though.)
From me:
Hey for some reason, I don't think my tweeters are working. When I have my window's down and the sunroof back, it seems as if I have to have my sound all the way up to 40 to hear anything. I'm pretty sure my tweeters aren't working... do you think it's something simple, like something came unplugged when I put the unit back in or what?
Also, is the volume of our bluetooth adjustable like the stock one was? It's way harder to hear my bluetooth now as well. Let me know please if you are having the same issues or have fixed them...
His response:
The tweeters are wired in with the door speakers; I'm not sure whether they are wired straight from the amp (under the dash on the driver's side) or through some cross-over box like mine. I'd think that they would either both work or not, but I'm not sure. I guess you could take the trim of your door and check the connectors...?
As for the bluetooth volume, mine seems to wokr fine. It mutes the radio when I get a call, and then I can adjust the volume with the steering wheel volume controls. Have you tried turning up the volume? Where did you mount the mike?
I responded with:
Yeah, I just don't hear any sound what so ever coming from the tweeters, but plenty of sound coming from bottom door speakers. I can't adjust the volume with the steering wheel because it's as if my whole system shuts down when the bluetooth kicks in if I get a call coming in. It's as if the whole system reboots after I get a called and end it. For instance, after I hang up, I see the slash screen and then it takes a few seconds for the music to kick back in. I have to hit the "ok" button again as well. I wonder if one of my wires aren't throughly touching.
I'll have to see if I can play with it today. Oh, the mic is under the mirror. I wonder if the PAC volume or something like that has to be turned up? Oh well, let me know if you stumble across any information.

If anyone has any information as to what this could be, please let me know, I'm going to play with this today and see what I can find out. I hope it's something simple. I don't think a ground wire would have anything to do with this would it? Again, any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Neil

I do have the equalizer set for S.Bass I do have the bass turned up, but I played a bit with that, and I didn't hear much from the tweeters still. I just seems really wierd that the volume of the stock unit has more sound output than the volume of this aftermarket unit which is more powerful.
Wait, which harness are you using? are you using the expensive one that keeps onstar? if so you have to turn up the little adjuster that also adjusts the volume of the chimes. I had the same issue then I turned it up. Unfortunately your chimes are going to be much louder, but that a sacrifice that has to be made. Just make sure to pull out the little metal pieces next to the knob, those will quiet the chimes down a bit.
Well, the good news is... I got my volume up, WAY UP! The chime is SUPER loud. I definitely won't forget to turn my lights off nor will the neighbors let me! Ha! The bad news is... while trying to fix the bluetooth, I lost my bluetooth connection and now it won't work at all. I noticed I have to adjust the volume on the phone directly to adjust the volume in the car, but it should work fine now with the amplified sound... I would think. I'll have to see what I can do to get it back! Thanks for the help Tommy, I figured that's what it was. I'll have to see if there are any firmware updates as well.
