Type E's spl-136.2

So i took my car to a show not to long ago and saw that California Customs was having an SPL comp for free. I got some subs, why not? yanno. so i went up to the booth and got the process started. Turned the sub level up to the max (+15) and made sure the amp was tuned. heres the setup
-2 12" alpine type e's (inverted)
-6.5" boston acoustic's up front
-8g kicker wiring
-alpine mp450 mono amp
-sealed box
-Kenwood hu with built in video

this whole set up i purchased brand new, pieced together for about 4 hundred bucks
. To me i must agree it hits, but nothing crazy, or maybe im just used to listenin to it real loud, but the test results suprised me. We the SPL level on the first song to be about 134, then on the next i got it to 136.2! IDK but i think if a 2g wire were on there or a 4 i might be able to get 138-140. Who knows... not to bad of a set up for about 4 bills

Every Walmart SPL meter I've seen tops out at 130Db. Hell the one I bought from there won't read 130. The roof of my Blazer flexes about 2" and in my house it sounds like someone is banging on the walls, everything rattling and it barely registers 129Db... I don't believe it for a second.

those spl meters suck... search for a dealer with a term lab meter

oh and if by turning the bass to +15 u were clipping the signal theres a good chance ur number was lower then it could have been.

Yea, seems a little high especially considering I bought one from walmart for 15 bucks, and put the music up as high as I could stand and only got 128.2. Im talking to the point where the highs actually hurt you, and the base made the hairs on your arm move....

those cheap walmart meters DO NOT WORK i used 3 brands of dm meters at the same time
1= walmart
2= termlab
3= i dont rember the brand

the walmart meter was either giving a way to high reading like 155 db or really low like 122db
the term lab meter is bang on it gave me a reading on mine at 139.6 db
and the other brand every time u moved the mic it would change the results so we didnt keep using it

so there is no way type E's even came close to 136db i would say 128-130 cause there only like 200 watts each

It doesnt matter about wattage, its about the efficency of the amp, subs, and box that you have mated together for the system. My buddy has one 10" sub in a box just big enough to hold it, 140 watts on it and it just hit 132.5 on a term lab meter. EFFICENCY is the key.

your a lier bud sorry to say ...you are right with the efficency but the term lab measures sound pressure and 140watts is not putting out enough power to make a sub do 140db

it took my buddy 1000 watt JL amp and a w7 to get 144db so your a lier with 1 10inch and 140watts

and the mtx 9500 is a beast of a sub

Are you kidding me? I'd like to see the other 4 subs in your Top 5 list for a good laugh then.
